My role
Senior Venture Architect & interim Head of Product
My responsibility
Develop the venture and investment case, lead product delivery and help establish the permanent team.

The challenge

A major Australian bank’s venture studio wanted to build a new consumer business. The brief began with finding an opportunity, developing the investment case and winning approval to launch.

The chosen concept addressed how younger consumers shop. Finding relevant brands and deals meant switching between social feeds, discount codes and loyalty programmes. The venture brought personalised discovery and cashback into one app, giving retailers a way to reach these shoppers.

What I owned and delivered

I developed dozens of venture concepts and pitched them to the investment committee, securing approval to build the selected venture.

As interim Head of Product, I led ten engineers and designers through product development and launch. The wider venture team involved more than 1,000 young Australians in the pilot design process, grounding the product in how its intended customers shopped.

I also helped recruit the permanent team to take the business forward after launch.

What changed

The bank gained a new shopping business that connected younger consumers with personalised offers and cashback. The app launched with offers from more than 600 merchants and reached over 200,000 downloads in its first year.

The venture was later folded into the bank’s core consumer app.
